I’ve just landed myself a gig on Dublin’s HeartbeatFM.biz. I’ll have a two hour show 🙂
Broadcasting online, HeartbeatFM is Dublin’s only love song station.
Can’t wait to get on !
There are a couple of nice little things going on the station website too like a live webcam from Dublin!!
You can email me your requests and song suggestions to nessy@heartbeatfm.biz

It’s the time of year when the new improved DCU FM is getting its act together. After the mess that became last year with DCU FM, it’s great to see new Station Manager, Denis McEvoy, getting his teeth into it already.
I’d love a show again this year, maybe something with some arts and technology rather than just pure music.
Here’s where I would like your opinions please.
What do you think a College Radio station should consist of?
What type of music would you want a college station to play?
Even if you’re not in college what kind of programming would entice you to listen to a college station?
Should a college station cater for the surrounding residents also?
I would really like your opinions and views, I want to really get involved with the station in this upcoming academic year an would love to be able to give Denis and his other officers some solid feedback..
You can email me nessymon@gmail.com or leave a comment here.
Thanks in advance

Occasionally blasts from a previous lifetime crosses paths with current lifelines. Once such event happened maybe a year ago when I met Greg Parke again through Facebook (Big up the power of social media and networking).
I had met Greg many years ago when he was running Energy Radio in Navan, Co. Meath, (coincidently mentioned in ‘Running up that Hill’). Lyndsey Dolan and Bernard Woods aka Captain Hollywood, were also jocks on the station. Lyndsey is now a regular on CountryMix here in Ireland.
Bernard died two years ago after being in a coma following a car crash. Proud to say I knew him. A neighbour from home and fellow jock! Hollywood’s (Bernard will always be Hollywood to me) brother, songwriter Billy Woods is a friend and actually helped me move last time I had to!
I did a night-time show 9-12, also did a drive time show. I prerecorded a few shows for the odd occasion that my work schedules clashed. One of the weirdest things ever is listening to the radio and hearing yourself presenting while you’re working another job!
So that’s a bit of background. Today I was on Facebook again and had heard through Greg about Buzz FM.. didn’t know much so I started investigating.. (its playing Shakespear’s Sister – You’re History as we speak:) It’s good!
A decent mix of music! Since I tuned in La Roux, Shakira, Aztec Camera.. pretty eclectic mix!
The station is online at http://www.buzzradio.fm/ and there are plans to go FM in Europe… better move than going DAB methinks!
The way things are economically I’m sure the general public, me included, are watching all their pennies and I don’t think DAB radios have come down in price enough for every home to have one yet. Saying that I don’t think that Station bosses have the money to push the DAB side of things…
Greg, you’re an inspiration! Keep fighting the fight!
We’ve just finished recording the first show for broadcast. Didn’t go too bad at all! We had Offaly band Hombre and lady of the moment Áine Duffy in for a chat and a few songs. (Thanks Áine the control alt thing works :P) Stylish Dave O’Shaughnessy also dropped by for a chat about the Style Socs upcoming Fashion show. Thanks to Alan Markey who manned the controls. Fun was most definitely had by all!
I can’t remember the complete order of how we played songs, Hombre did 3 acoustic and Áine did two.. but we did play
DJ Flip: On The Linstrumental (Intro)
The Shower Scene: In The Deep End
New Rhodes: Everybody loves a Scene
White Lies: Death
Garbage: Number 1 Crush (Goth Mix)
Jack’s Mannequin: Spinning:
Superbus: Lola
elaine k: Seduce Me
The Mighty Stef: Cant remember the name of the track sorry but its track 4 from his new album 100 Midnights
Reemo: Sometimes
Sophie B Hawkins: Big Beautiful Bottom
Hard Fi: Living For the Weekend
Cowboy X: Gabbi
The Blizzards: The Reason (Remix)
Can’t remember anymore if anyone wants to hear a particular tune send me a mail nessyontheradio@gmail.com and I’ll do my best.
I’ll update this when I have a definite broadcast time and podcast link 🙂
