Tune of the Week 25/02/2014: Soak – Blud

I’ll get the excuses over first, I meant to make this Tune of the Week, two weeks ago, but thanks to some nasty people I got locked out of my website. Then I forgot. But I think it would be an utter shame for me not to acknowledge the awesomeness of the new single from Soak.

Soak aka Bridie Monds-Watson is still only 17 and became the first signing to Chvrches’ label, Goodbye Records As well as making awesome tunes, they are awesome talent spotters. (I like the word awesome)

Anyway, Ireland has been buzzing since we first heard about Bridie and it’s time for the rest of Europe to sit up and take notice as she heads out on European tour with her label bosses.

The Blud EP comes out in the UK on Paddy’s Day, March 17th and Bridie’s first headline tour will be on April 10th at St Pancras Old Church. Tickets are available from gigsandtours.com

If I have my fact correct, Big Bad Lama also took the great shot of Bridie at the top of the page.

Expect this lady’s career to skyrocket, there’s a beautiful sense of sincerity and honesty to her music, it subtly drags you in and before you know it Soak is your new favourite artist.

Here’s the rest of the UK tour dates:

2 March Birmingham, Hare & Hounds w/ George Ezra
3 March Bristol, Fleece w/ George Ezra
4 March London, Dingwalls w/ George Ezra
05 March Dublin, Academy w/ CHVRCHES

The Minutes stream new track ‘Cherry Bomb’

After what seems like eons, The Minutes have finally revealed the first track from their second album ‘Live Well, Change Often’ which will come out on Model Citizen records in May this year.

The trio have lost none of their loud rock n roll tendencies but Cherry Bomb seems more refined that the music from their debut ‘Marcata’ and dare I say, there seems like there’s a nod to the glam rock era in there. Me likes?

Have a listen below or on Soundcloud if you’re on a mobile device.

So, what ye think?
