George Michael: Let Her Down Easy (Video)

George Michael today revealed the video to his new single, a cover of Terence Trent D’arby’s ‘Let Her Down Easy’. The video was directed by Vaughan Arnell who previously directed ‘Fastlove’ and ‘Outside’ for Mr. Panayiotou and is a simply stunning black and white affair.

George’s vocals are immense on this and his performance bring me straight back to his version of Bonnie Riatt’s ‘I can’t make you love me’. Stunningly perfect. George Michael has made me fall in love with him all over again.

Before you press play, just be aware that there’s a little bit of nakedness at the end of the video, it’s beautiful, artistic, but might not be suitable for work.

The single will be released on March 17th to coincide with the release of his ‘Symphonica’ album.

Leaders of Men: For Want Of A Better Word (Video)

LeadersofMenLeaders of Men are finally releasing their debut single, ‘For Want Of A Better Word’ and to be fair it’s a cracker. This a cracking driving track that just keeps building. The video is a change to the ‘regular performance video’ with the band playing while a story unfolds in front of them. The video was directed by Shaun Ryan. The single is available to preorder on iTunes and will be released on Valentines Day as part of Alexander House EP.

If you want to find out if the release date has any significance for Leaders of Men, tune in to The London Ear this Wednesday at 2 on RTE 2XM, I’ll be chatting to frontman, Brian Ashe, who’s looking extremely svelte in the vid.

  • Tune of the Week: Chvrches – Bela Lugosi’s Dead

Tune of the Week: Chvrches – Bela Lugosi’s Dead

Chvrches have done a very brave thing indeed. They’ve taken Bela Lugosi’s Dead by Bauhaus, yes, from the 80s and given it the Chvrches rework for the soundtrack of Vampire Academy.

Before you even listen to a track like this, you’re always going to have the purists knocking those who have covered the original, stating that it could be better and what a travesty it is to have x done to it.

Chvrches have taken the song, given it a good shake and well, Chvrchified it and have done a fantastic job on putting their stamp on it. Tune of the Week for these years.

If you’re on a mobile device you can hear the track on Soundcloud.

Free Download: The Family Rain – Vulpicide

TheFamilyRain1The Family Rain launch their debut album ‘Under The Volcano’ on Monday February 3rd and in the run up to the release have offered a free download of their track, ‘Vulcipide’, which will appear in a Spotify only version of the album.

It’s a great intro to the trio, a driving rock song with effected vocals and when the hook kicks in, it really kicks in. The band have obviously thought about this a lot, making a pretty decent video for what is a free download. I love the green screen effect in the reflection of the kick drum beside the kick pedal. Yes, call me nerd!

You can download ‘Vulipcide’ from the band’s website or by by filling in your email address here.
