Arctic Monkeys, Jake Bugg & Guests at Marley Park – On Sale Now

ArcticMonkeysIt’s not often that I actually post about gig and ticket announcements but to be honest, this line up is a bit special. On July 12 Arctic Monkeys will play Marley Park in Dublin. Alongside them on the day will be Jake Bugg, Miles Kane and Royal Blood.

The line up fits perfectly together and is one definitely looking forward to. 2013 was a phenomenal one for Arctic Monkeys with AM being one of the albums of the year. Jake Bugg did a quick turn around to get album number 2 ‘Shangri La’ out in the flashiest of flashes. Miles Kane is just awesome, the king of cool and no doubt because he’s on the line up he’ll be joining his fellow Last Shadow Puppet, Alex Turner on stage somewhere during the day. Opening up on the day are Royal Blood, new exciting fresh and a BBC ‘Sound of 2014’.

As well as the good music. One of the things the really makes me like this line up is that I’ve interviewed both Jake Bugg and Miles Kane before and as well as playing really good tunes, they’re really sound blokes.

Tickets are on sale now priced 61.50e from ticketmaster.ie Grab them when you can, Arctic Monkeys shows have been selling out really fast.

  • Competition: Win Tickets to Little Comets at The Academy, Dublin [CLOSED]

Competition: Win Tickets to Little Comets at The Academy, Dublin [CLOSED]

LittleCometsWho fancies an awesome night out? Little Comets are a fantastic band live, I last saw them in April 2013 in The Academy 2 and loved it. This time round, they’ve moved upstairs to the main room in The Academy and rightly so.

Little Comets just last week revealed details of their forthcoming EP, ‘The Gentle EP’, so far they’ve put two tracks from the four track EP online, you can hear ‘Little Italy’ and ‘The Blur, The Line and the Thickest of Onions’ in the playlist below.

The kind folk at MCD, have given me a pair of tickets to see Harrow’s finest at The Academy on February 9th. With these new songs, you can see why the EP is ‘The Gentle EP’, the rio are showing a more tender side.

But, I have no doubt in my mind that the energy and danceability of Little Comets‘ live show will have you leaving the venue in flying form. Put it this way, the track ‘Dancing Song‘ isn’t called that by mistake. Perfect way to shake off the winter blues.

To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is answer this:

If you were given the job of naming a new comet, what would you call it?

Leave your answer in the comments below and sure when you’re here make sure you like my Facebook page. Competition will close on Thursday 6th February at 12 midday. Winner shall be notified that evening, judges decision is final.

///Competition is now closed, thanks for entering, Congrats to Jack Sheeran who is on his way to see Little Comets in The Academy//

  • The Strypes on Conan (Video)

    The Strypes on Conan (Video)

ThestrypesCavan’s finest, The Strypes, have been doing more for the county in the US in the past fews days than anything the 1947 All Ireland winning football could muster in the Polo Grounds.

The foursome appeared on Conan on Monday night looking suave, obviously growing nicely into the rock star status, and more importantly sounding bloody amazing! Yeah, there’s still a little fresh facedness still knocking around but frontman Ross Farrelly looks like he’s been taking style tips from Miles Kane. Could take them from a lot worse!

Great stuff, if you haven’t purchased Snapshot yet, what are you waiting for? It’s the last week of January, must be pay day!

Here’s the vid, watch them perform ‘Blue Collar Jane’.
