So DJ Flip has set himself a task: To come up with a monthly mix, made from tracks submitted by his fans.
I chat to him on The London Ear tomorrow about his ‘Flip will mix it’ project. You can listen live at 1400 GMT. In the meantime, here’s a little video of the 2003/4 World Champion Scratch DJ and his nimble fingers making magic happen. Oi You! You’re filthy minded!
I’ve included DJ Flip’s deets in the image above, get in touch with him, get him to include your song!
Happy New Year! Hope all the heads aren’t too sore today. On The London Ear today, there was no better way to kick off 2014 than by playing some of the musical acts I think you should be keeping an eye out for this year.

Fan of Melanie C? Well the former Spice Girl is being uber generous and remarkably clever with a series of free downloads from her website.
A couple of weeks ago, Melanie released a 7 track ‘Live from Shepherd’s Bush’ EP and on Saturday 11th of January, Mel will celebrate her 40th birthday with a ‘Sporty’s Forty’ celebration gig in Shepherds Bush.
So in the 11 day run up to ‘Sporty’s Forty’, Mel is offering a free download of the other live tracks recorded but not on the ‘Live at Shepherd’s Bush’ EP, with each track being available for 24 hours. So to have a complete live gig you have to get the Free Downloads and buy the EP. Clever! Plus you can get 11 free Melanie C downloads.
Get your daily download from MelanieC.net. The Live at Shepherd’s Bush EP is available from iTunes
Here’s Melanie’s performance of Stevie Wonder’s ‘I Wish’ from last night’s Hootenanny.
ethan’s bucket is a Ethan Kumar, a Dublin based physics student who has been making music for a couple of years now, although it’s only now that he is stepping out the realm of bedroom musician. And I’m quite glad he has done too. Offering his latest track, ‘Crown Me a King’ as a free download, Ethan has given us an electronic dream pop delight with overdriven guitars and synth sounds to die for.
Ethan seems to be quite a prolific artist, releasing an album ‘Forest Lights’ in 2012 (also available as a Free Download) and he’s currently working towards the release of a new album ‘Walking on Water’.
You can download ‘Crown Me a King’ from Bandcamp or from the widget below.
Make sure you check out the video for Crown Me a King, a throne, a crown, a beach and some fire, what more could you want?
