The very talented London based filmmaker Jenny May Finn has just made public her documentary ‘The Darklings: the fans behind the band’. The Darklings are, of course, are fans of rock gods The Darkness and Finn made this video alongside Róisín Murphy. If I remember correctly this documentary was made for their thesis in DCU.
This is an interesting look at fans, fandom and the relationship with the artists they ‘follow’.
Grab a cuppa, have a look!
The Late David Turpin has just released the third single, ‘Fur’, from his exceptional album ‘We Belong Dead’. The song originally appeared on ‘Oscar the Hypno Dog (And Other Tails)’ last year but is now getting the attention it deserves, thanks in no small part to the video Turpin has released to promote the song.
Directed by Turpin himself and photography by videomaker Mark Duggan, the video is a stunning black and white affair.
Turpin will be joining my radio show, The London Ear, on Wednesday at 1400 GMT, Tune in! The Late David Turpin’s ‘Fur’ EP is out now.
As I was writing about DJ Earworm, I couldn’t help but think that Mr Earworm had tried to get his mix out before Daniel Kim, who released last years mix on December 4. Yes, my friends, we have a mash up battle.
If you’re looking for something to dance to this festive season, for me Mr Kim wins this one.. he has mashed up 50 tracks. Plus you can get the mix for free from here.
Mr Kim adds a nice touch on his website explaining how the whole thing came together. The winner of this bout is the Daniel Kim.

It’s that time of year, the time when DJ Earworm releases this United State of Pop mix for the year and splits the world in two on whether it’s more awesome than last year’s or just downright shite.
To be honest, this is the second year now that I’ve been kinda split myself over what I think of it, some bits I really like, some bits are like, well, I’m not sure. The transitions between the songs are pretty cool but it’s just not as catchy as last year’s. It will still have a shed load of views this time tomorrow. No free download though this time round, instead you can buy the mix from Legitmix
