Your Local Record Shop – Add Yours to Google Maps

Over the past couple of days we’ve seen HMV going into administration in the UK and Irish stores are closed today. Now, more than ever we need to keep our local independent music retailer and it’s so important to support them.

This Google Map of the UK and Ireland was started the other night to give locations of ‘Your Local Record Shop’. If you are an independent retailer. Get your details up there, let people, who may have not previously visited, know where you are!

On The Prowl: The Urban Foxes are back!

This morning, I was pottering around and I heard these yelps outside, which sounded like a small animal or a bird. After pulling back the curtains, I saw three of our friendly foxes had returned, months after we last saw them. It may be quite a while since we’ve seen them but since Winter kicked in, it’s been pretty easy to spot their tracks in the garden. Today, I looked out and the three were having a good old fashioned scrap.

A few minutes later, I looked out and saw one of them on the roof of the neighbour’s shed. Prancing up and down like he owned the place, then I remembered there were some chickens there but the neighbour had previously told me that they were well penned in and no fox would get them.

Yeah, I think they let their guard down a bit. Here’s a video:

Tune of the Week: Jan 11 2013: Peace

Peace_bannerThis was going to be last week’s Tune of the week before Miles Kane swooped in with his new track ‘Give In’. That hasn’t diminished my love for this track though. Peace are a four piece from Birmingham who made the BBC Sound of 2013 final list alongside Kodaline and Little Green Cars amongst others.

They released their ‘Delicious’ EP in September and have been touring with The Vaccines and the awesome Tame Impala. If you’re in the UK, they’ll be on tour in February as part of the NME Awards Tour alongside the aforementioned Miles Kane, Django Django and Palma Violets. Miss at your peril!

‘Wraith’ is the new single from Peace and is out in Ireland today, it features quite an addictive yet guitar line and the more I listen to it, the more I like it.

The video features the lads watching some exotic dancers shaking their ass so it might be best not to watch this at work..

    Movie 43 (Trailer)

Movie43_bannerMovie 43 comes out in Ireland on January 25th. After watching the trailer, it’s still hard to figure out exactly how or what is going on. The film boasts an impressive cast including Hugh Jackman, Richard Gere, Naomi Watts, Halle Berry plus about twenty other familiar faces. It’s been dubbed as ‘the most outrageous comedy ever made’.

Movie 43 features 12 individual stories directed by twelve different directors including Elizabeth Banks and Peter Farrelly. Not sure if these stories are related in any way or if it would be something like Paris Je T’aime where they have a common theme or setting. Or, it could more of a feature length sketch show, I’ll let you know when I see it.
