Download: Last Robots – Robots Friend [Thrill Kill Rework]

ThrillKill_banner*Warning, listening to this piece of music, may seriously affect you being to sit still for any length of time whatsoever*

Being sick over Christmas n’all means I’m still going through some of my emails from before the festive season. Thankfully I did though because those nice Thrill Kill boys have sent me a link to a free download of their rework of Last Robots’ ‘Robots Friend’.

Thrill Kill are Polish Producer PiMO and vocalist John Webb and they got together in 2011 but had met in 2008 when they were working on Modfunk’s Emofunk in 2008. Lost Robots are two Warsaw DJs, Bert & Igor. Dance music from Poland is sounding good!

Get the remix for free from Soundcloud below.

  • Competition: Win a pair of tickets to Entertainment.ie’s The Erics

Competition: Win a pair of tickets to Entertainment.ie’s The Erics

On this week’s Culture Cafe on RTE 2XM, I had the pleasure of speaking to John Balfe, Music Editor of Entertainment.ie about The Erics award ceremony, which take place on January 16th in The Village in Dublin. You can listen to the podcast here. John was kind enough to give me a pair of tickets for the listeners of Culture Cafe on 2XM.

The night will consist of an award cermony along with full sets from Heathers and Delorentos. Tickets are €10 and available here. Full sets from both of these bands? where would ye get it?

To be in with a shot of getting your hands on a pair of tickets all you have to do is tell me, if you could award a fictitious award what would it be? Answers can be totally comedic or entirely serious, that’s up to you, just leave them below!

And make sure you like Culture Cafe and Entertainment.ie on Facebook. Competition closes midnight on Sunday 13th January. Bon Chance!

COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED: STAY TUNED FOR THE WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT!

UPDATE: The Randomiser (ie my Other Half who is at work) picked out number 5 – Congrats Lorraine, you’re off to the Erics! We’ll be in touch. Thanks to everyone who entered and to Entertainment.ie for the tickets

Edit: Turns out Lorraine already got her mitts on some tickets, round 2 and the number ‘drawn’ was 4, congrats Abe

Amy Hanrahan: ‘The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things’ Photographic Exhibition

AmyHanrahanAmy Hanrahan launches her debut solo exhibition at The Copperhouse Gallery this Thursday, January 10th at 1800. Amy was the winner of the 2012 Fire Propeller Award and I spoke to her on Culture Cafe just after she won the award.

The exhibition focuses on the family unit and how members interact with each other in their own tribe. I remember asking Amy is this was her own family, at the time, she said that they were her boyfriend’s family although it seems more images have been added to the set during her residency at Fire so maybe her own family have crept in now.

Amy’s photographs are quite atmospheric and timeless, the only giveaway being some of the clothes her subjects wear and small little things. The exhibition runs until February 1st 2013.
