Download: Shout Timber: Rich Man/East India Trading Company

ShoutTimberIt’s cold, it’s dark, it’s the end of November. One way to get out of the winter blues is to press play on ‘Rich Man’, the new single from Shout Timber. It’s upbeat full of African vibes and more than enough to blow the cobwebs away, put them somewhere between Little Comets and Vampire Weekend. The track is officially being released on December 10th but you get get a free download alongside ‘East India Trading Company’ now.

Shout Timber are a four piece from London and worked with Tarek Musa who has also been working with Eye Emma Jedi, who previously featured on Tune of the Week with ‘Sin’.

The two tracks released this way compliment each other quite well. ‘Rich Man’ is upbeat and going on the lyrics just a tad extravagant. The rhythm for “East India Trading Company’ comes from a train bell and gives the impression of just enjoying a journey through India. Interesting combination.

Shout Timber are playing a couple of gigs in the UK before Christmas, on December 3rd they play The Water Rats, London supporting Animal Kingdom and on December 4, you’ll find them in Birmingham at the Actress & Bishop, supporting Jaws.

You can download the tracks from Soundcloud here vvvv

Here’s the videos for the two tracks. In less than a week, the video for Rich Man has managed to get over twelve thousand views.

Civil Twilight: River (Video and Remix)

CivilTwilightCivil Twilight are a band based in Nashville and are one quarter Nashville, three quarters from Cape Town South Africa. ‘River’ is their debut on this part of the planet but I’ve been listening to some more of their stuff on Soundcloud and I’m liking what I’m hearing.

‘River’ is taken from their second album ‘Holy Weather’, it follows the 2010 self titled debut release. They’ve previously played at Bonaroo and opened for Florence + The Machine and The Smashing Pumpkins.

While I’m here, I’m not entirely sure when the album ‘Holy Weather’ is going to get a release here but according to their website there’s a remix EP on the way which includes a Ra Ra Riot Remix of River and an amazing Audien remix of ‘Fire Escape’.

‘River’ is out now on Wind Up Records.

    Villagers: Nothing Arrived (Video)

VillagersbannerSeems Conor Villagers was very clever with ‘The Waves’. It kinda made people go ‘Hmm, what’s he doing?’ Allowing for a new, blank slate. Whether or not it’s been a hard task to follow up ‘Becoming a Jackal’ isn’t clear just yet, but going on ‘Nothing Arrived’, it doesn’t look like we’re going to be disappointed.

The video was directed by Alden Volney who also did the video for The ‘Waves’ and is taken from the album ‘{Awayland}’ which will be released on January 13th 2013. {Awayland} can be pre-ordered HERE.

You can catch Villagers on tour in Ireland in March:
