Free Music Monday 1/10/2012: Kodaline (Everything Everything Remix)

Over the past while, I’ve featured some music from Kodaline, from their current ‘Kodaline EP’ and also a remix of Everything Everything‘s new single ‘Cough Cough’. Today we get the best of both worlds as EE have remixed Kodaline’s All I Want.

It’s quite a daring remix especially when you hear the gentle tenderness of the original but really I wouldn’t expect anything less from Everything Everything. I’ve heard the original ‘All I Want’ on BBC Radio 1, XFM and yesterday saw the video on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch. The band are currently on tour in the UK with We Are Augustines. The Kodaline EP is out now.

If the download button doesn’t show up below, just double click and it will bring you directly to soundcloud.

    Here’s the original:

Nessycast #10: Interview with The Minutes

It’s been a while since there’s been a nessycast so no better way than getting it going again than by chatting to The Minutes.

I met up with Shane, Tom and Mark while they were doing some promo for Arthur’s Day on September 27th. Later on that night, they rocked the Grand Social while supporting Primal Scream. Sit back, relax with a cuppa and have a listen.

If you’re at work, or at your Granny’s house, you might be better off saving your boss/Granny from lots of curses by using some headphones!

It is rock n roll though!

Check out The Minutes on tour across the UK and Ireland this November/December.

George Michael cancels rescheduled Australian dates

whitelightvidA statement has just been released on GeorgeMichael.com following George’ performance earlier this evening at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

I have today announced the cancellation of the shows in Australia which breaks my heart. By way of explanation all I can say at this time is that since last year’s illness I have tried in vain to work my way through the trauma that the doctors who saved my life warned me I would experience. They recommended complete rest and the type of post traumatic counselling which is available in cases like mine but I’m afraid I believed (wrongly) that making music and getting out there to perform for the audiences that bring me such joy would be therapy enough in itself. Unfortunately I seriously underestimated how difficult this year would be and although I was right to believe that the shows would bring me great happiness and that my voice would recover completely (I truly think that some of my recent performances have been my best ever) I was wrong to think I could work my way through the major anxiety that has plagued me since I left Austria last December.

All that’s left for me to do is apologise to my wonderful Australian fan base and to promise faithfully that as soon as I completed these shows here in the UK I will receive the treatment which is so long overdue.

    — George Michael

As I previously wrote about George’s single ‘White Light’, I too went through a similar experience, believe it or not twelve years ago today. I, too, thought I was fine but things build up and I was told I had Post Traumatic Stress, so I know what it’s like. George is right to take time off, when this happened me, I moved countries for a bit, just for a change of scenery. Even still, things can happen to bring everything flooding back, as I found out on Monday of this week. Hope you feel better soon George, it’s actually really tough being faced with your own mortality.

Tune of The Week 29/09/2012: The Other Tribe

TheOtherTribeIt wasn’t until quite recently that I actually figured out that I listen to quite a lot of electronic indie kind of stuff and this was one track, I kept playing on YouTube until I bought the EP on iTunes. It’s also available on 10 inch vinyl which I hope to get my grubby mitts on (I’ll wash before I touch the vinyl). Good job, they call themselves ‘The Other Tribe‘, there’s six of them and they hail from Bristol, not to be confused with another band called ‘The Other Tribe’ who reside in West Virginia, Amerika!

Skirts is quite a danceable track and is out on Black Butter Records. Expect to hear this on my radio show.
