Culture Cafe on RTÉ 2XM: Darren Hayes Interview

I had the pleasure of chatting to Darren Hayes for Culture Cafe. Darren was one time lead singer of Savage Garden and is heading to Vicar Street on September 27th as part of the second leg of ‘The Secret’s Out Tour’.

The interview was first broadcast on RTE 2XM on September 11th 2012 and was repeated on 2fm on Sunday September 16th.

I must especially thank all Darren’s fans on Twitter and Facebook who got involved and tweeted questions for me to ask Darren. I tried to get in as many as possible.

    Enjoy the interview!

Free Music Monday 17/09/2012: Everything Everything

EverythingEverythingIt was just a couple of weeks ago when we heard Everything Everything‘s new single ‘Cough Cough’, which will be the first single from their second album ‘Arc’ which will be released in January 2013.

‘Cough Cough’ will be released on October 14th in the UK so it should be released here in Ireland on October 12th. In the run up to the release, the band have very kindly offered the ‘Brometer remix’ of ‘Cough Cough’ for download for absolutely free from their Soundcloud page. Thanks very much indeed!

Tune of the Week 16/09/2012: Gerry and The Pacemakers

LiverpoolScarvesI thought about this week’s Tune of the Week long and hard. Sometimes music has a place in our lives and a meaning that go deeper than I could ever write here. I remember the afternoon in April 1989, the pictures and news stories that unfolded were just harrowing. 96 people lost their lives that day.

So this week we learned that the Hillsborough disaster was the ‘biggest cover up ever’, the families of the deceased quite rightly are calling for a new inquest.

This week’s Tune of the Week is Gerry and The Pacemakers and You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Culture Cafe on RTE 2XM Show 60 Playlist: 12/09/2012

I have to say I really enjoyed this week’s show and I was really delighted with how it turned out. I also had the chance to chat to two remarkably awesome gentlemen. Chris Helme, who has just released his album ‘The Rookery’ and was one time frontman of The Seahorses and Darren Hayes, solo artist and ex Savage Garden. It was also great to get so much feedback, thanks to everyone who contributed on Twitter and Facebook, there is absolutely no feeling like it when people are so up for getting involved in the show. Thank you.

I’m not going to podcast this until after Sunday. Culture Cafe will be on RTE 2fm this Sunday night after 10pm as part of ‘2XM takes over’ so I’m thrilled to be able to give Chris and Darren some national FM exposure.
