    Kodaline: All I Want (Video)

Kodaline_bwThese Kodaline lads must be one of the hardest working bands around. They’ve just released another video, their third in little over a month. First of all there was ‘Lose Your Mind’ and then there was ‘Perfect World’, now it’s the turn for ‘All I Want’ to get a visual treatment.

Their debut EP will be released on September 9 in the UK and September 7th in Ireland and will be released on RCA Victor/B-Unique. You can get a Free Download of Pray here

Everything Everything Announce New Single, Album and Tour Dates

EverythingEverythingYummy, what’s this I see? A new single and album from Everything Everything? Awesome. I absolutely loved 2010’s Man Alive and it was one of my regular listens of 2010.

The first single from the album ‘Cough Cough’ will be released on October 14th in the UK so it should be October 11th here in Ireland. It will be available for digital download and on glorious 7inch vinyl. The album itself will be called ‘Arc’ and will be released in January 2013.

The album was produced by David Kosten who also produced Man Alive and will be released on RCA Victor.

Lead singer Jonathan directed and edited the video for ‘‘Cough Cough’’ (it’s a bit awesome) and going on how ‘Cough Cough’ sounds, Arc is going to be a stomper.

  • Last Chance: Dubliners – Multimedia Exhibition

Last Chance: Dubliners – Multimedia Exhibition

Dubliners_I had the privilege of being able to catch Little Cloud Media‘s Multimedia Exhibition, Dubliners, which is centered around James Joyce’s work of the same name. It runs until 7pm tonight in the National Library in Kildare Street and if you have the chance to pop in after work, what you’ll find is pretty awesome.

There’s an interactive map showing you exactly where Joyce’s character were in Dublin, which is really kinda cool and brings home just how local this all is.

‘Eveline’ has been given the stop motion animation treatment but not just in the regular way. A tall rectangle stands in the exhibition space, with a monitor on each side. What we see here is the story of ‘Eveline’ from four sides, front, back, left and right. Really cool idea.

‘Two Gallants’ uses old black and white photographs and lets birds fly across the sky and old trams travel along the streets of Dublin. These are interspersed with real life footage given the olde time effect.

‘The Dead’ is divided into four different interactive chapters and features interviews about Joyce’s life and works with some key people. A little kick for me here was seeing tenor Sean Kennedy (who I went to college with and has an amazing voice), sing ‘The Lass of Aughrim’

Little Cloud Media are four students from the MSc in Multimedia in DCU, Steven Battle, Joey Kavanagh, Paul Power and Rebecca Saunders and Having just finished the BSc in the same discipline, I was really impressed with their work. Informative, entertaining and it has that little bit of special fairy dust that a lot of projects like this are let down by.

Seeing as Joyce’s work is now out of copyright, this was an awesome way to use and explore some of his work. Fair play, good job, shame it closes at 7pm this evening.

Free Music Monday 27/08/2012: Trap Door

This week’s Recommended Free Music comes from Dublin based trio, Trap Door. They manage to combine elements of punk, ska and indie. Think Jamie T having a free for all with Arctic Monkeys. Fresh, in your face and their EP, ‘Lata Town’ is free from bandcamp.
