  • Sophie B. Hawkins: Sinnerman (Video)

TheCrossingSophie B Hawkins has released a new track from her forthcoming album ‘The Crossing’ which is due for release soon. This is a cover of the Nina Simone track, ‘Sinnerman’. Sophie hasn’t been known for shying away from her political ideals here she interprets this classic with gusto, emotion and intensity. She also has re-embraced a raw layered percussive and vocal combo that came to prominence in ‘Timbre’. I’d love to hear more of that on ‘The Crossing’.

The band are really starting to make waves in the UK and are currently filling up their Summer Touring Schedule. They also had the pleasure of being ‘Introduced’by Tom Robinson on his BBC 6 radio show.

You can check out the chat I had with David on Culture Cafe a couple of weeks ago.

    R.I.P. Whitney.

Alongside Les and Maureen Wolnich and their team in The Copper House Gallery, Sean has scanned his pieces to a large format scale. As Sean’s pieces are normally quite small, details which were easily missed, can now be seen. Sean has previously worked in his photo collage style on small scale formats but seeing them like this shows the precision, including jagged edges and an occasional cut too far and amount of time and work that went into the original pieces. This really has given these pieces a second life. (more…)
