  • Give Me All Your Luvin’: A Look at Madonna’s New Video

madonnaYesterday the world was treated to the new video from Madonna and she beautifully has a tongue in cheek dig at the music world, plays up celebrity, her past career, Americana, the Superbowl and still manages to have herself declared the Queen of Pop.

Even as the video to ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’ starts the fifties diner style font immediately grabs you. The colours and brashness of this brought the style of David LaChapelle to mind as it does again at 2.13 when Nicki Minaj does her thang. David, would have gone a tad further though I think. This video was directed by Megaforce, the er, force, behind Kid Cudi’s Pursuit of Happiness.

The text though, shows Madonna to be a savvy brain, knowing where her luxury life comes from, heck she spoke about it on Graham Norton. At the moment, it’s the Superbowl and the world wide audience that will see her perform. Cleverly, football players are scattered throughout the video running after her every whim. Some of these dalliances though, also reflect her musical career. (more…)

  • STC Introduction to Recording Weekend

Wkend 2editI don’t normally put these kind of posts on the blog. If I could though, I’d do this myself, it would be a great refresher.

The Sound Training Centre in Dublin are putting a weekend of Introduction to Audio Recording. As I said this would be a great intro or refresher for the rusty especially as the man in charge is Andy Knightley who has worked with people like Kings of Leon. Apart from that he’s an all round good guy!

Andy has also started a little blog go accompany the course, worth a look, even if you decide not to do the course… full picture with contact details after the jump.. (more…)

  • Tune of the Week 3/2/2012: OrphanCode

OrphanCodeThis week’s Tune of the Week comes from Dublin band OrphanCode. This track, ‘My Meaning Your Feeling’ is being released at the end of February and its quite a gentle grower. It’s taken from the band’s album ‘I Am A Country’.

I really like the video, it’s simple with nice grading and a timeless feel about it and beautifully captured Grafton St and surrounds of Dublin. Thumbs up!
