    George Michael Symphonica Dublin 2011

I think the title of this post says it all. It’s just over four years since I last saw George Michael live in Belfast. Great night on what was then the last night of the 25 Live Tour. More dates were later added to the tour.

Tuesday was my seventh time to see George, I’ll write my review about that later. Today, I had the privilege of sitting down and chatting with George’s backing singers, Lucy Jules and Shirley Lewis. There’s something lovely about the pair of them, smiling and buzzing, their personalities are contagious. They also signed my Symphonica programme for me, which I shall treasure for always. (Edit: I havent listened to the audio yet but some of it should be on Culture Cafe on RTE 2XM soon)

I can’t believe it’s a week since this gig! I had the honour of chatting to Patrick Wolf before the gig and to be honest, he’s such a lovely guy, I really enjoyed the gig and will always remember it for being the gig I went to in the middle of the rain apocalypse. (October 24th). I love too when you get a decent support act, CocknBullKid was great. Read the review on Goldenplec.

  • Backstage on DCUfm : 27/10/2011

BACKSTAGEMost of Thursday’s show included chats about what to actually call the show, little did I know there was a show on DCUfm called Set to Shuffle so calling another show The Shuffle was a tad too much for me. So deliberations took place with the news team and anyone else that came into the studio as to what I actually should name it. The two options were ‘Backstage’ or ‘The Nessy Monster’, it seemed to be pretty much 50/50 what to call it, the blokes in the room favouring Backstage but the ladies preferring ‘The Nessy Monster’. I think I’m going to go with Backstage…

    Here’s what happened:

    1. Jennifer Lopez: Papi (It’s The DJ Kue Instrumental!)

    2. The Subways: We Don’t Need Money to have a good time

    3. Miles Kane: Rearrange (Skreamix)

    4. Ram’s Pocket Radio: Dietar Rams has got a pocket radio

    5. Twin Atlantic: Free: Dan the Automator remix

    6. Rizzle Kicks: When I was a Younster

    7. Maverick Sabre: I Need

    8. Chat with More Than Conquerors

    9. More Than Conquerors: Bear Knuckle

    10. The Naked and Famous: Youngblood

    11. Royseven: You Say We Say

    12. The Minutes Fleetwood:

    13. Nirvana: Smells like Teen Spirit

So Backstage will be on DCUfm every Thursday at 1700, next Thursday will feature interviews with Royseven and Miles Kane.

I’m going to add this week’s interview with More Than Conquerors later.
