Lately it seems like the GAA have been looking MLB and NFL and how they run activities on match days, there have been stilt walkers and lifesize furry mascots getting photos taken with kids, music on match day and a chance to get your photo taken with either the Sam Maguire or the Liam McCarthy cups.
Now they are taking this one step further and having an evening of fun and entertainment the night before the All Ireland Football Final, September 17th.
Hector will act as MC on the night, there will be comedy from Neil Delamere and Fred Cooke and music on the night be be provided by Ryan Sheridan, Royseven and The Riptide Movement. The carnival feel will be pushed into overdrive by the latin rhythms of The Cuban Allstars. Tyrone legend Peter Canavan and memory man Jimmy Magee will there too, talking football.
Tickets are limited to 1400 and start at 35 and are available from crokepark.ie and gaa.ie
Looks like there are some good movies being released in the next few weeks, one of which could be The Devil’s Double. Dominic Cooper (The Duchess/Mama Mia) plays Saddam Hussein’s sadistic son’s body double during Hussein’s regime. Cooper plays both parts of Hussein’s son Uday and soldier Latif, who has one choice, become Uday’s double or his family dies.
It’s directed by New Zealander Lee Tamahori whose first film ‘Once We Were Warriors’ was critically acclaimed, started off in the movie business as a boom operator!
Up to now the only thing I really knew about trolls were that they had pink hair and sat on top of pencils, How wrong was I? André Øvredal directs this monster movie. From the trailer, Troll Hunter it looks like a cross between the Blair Witch and a nasty Jurassic Park.
Listen to the music in the trailer.. isn’t it, ‘if you go down to the woods today…teddy bears picnic’? haha!
