Interview with The Chakras
London based Dublin band, The Chakras, release their new single ‘Drifting (Take A Walk Inside)’ on July 29. I caught up with the band before they played their first Irish gig in 18 months.
Sitting down at a table surrounded by The Chakras, there are a couple of things that are immediately noticeable. Richie, Brian, Gordo, Ian and Rocky have an infectious enthusiam for what they are doing. That’s hardly surprising though, things seem to just get better and better for the quintet, headlining Club NME in Koko in Camden, London and now with a new single release.
‘I think it’s our favourite venue we’ve played in the UK’, says Richie ‘The great thing about it is that you don’t come on stage till quarter to one or one o’clock so the party is really started by the time you come on stage, which is brilliant. Interview with Rosa from Icelandic band, Feldberg
Icelandic duo Feldberg are releasing their single ‘Dreamin’ on July 29th through Irish label, Smalltown America and are taking in an Irish tour at the same time.
Trying to get through to Rosa’s phone has me laughing, Toto’s Africa is playing but this isn’t a voicemail message. You get it when her phone rings, this immediately sets the stage for Rosa’s upbeat and bubbly personality.
Made up of Einar Tönsberg, (better known as Eberg) and Rosa Briggita Ísfeld, a vocalist and electro DJ by night, the duo got together when Rosa was recommended to Einar by friends. Einar had been working as an electronic musician in London and had his song ‘Inside Your Head’ used in The O.C. and Veronica Mars. ‘It was just really lucky, came back home and was working on a sync for an advertisement, he needed a female voice and he asked around and apparently three people recommended me, thankfully. He phoned me up one evening, it was nine thirty or almost ten, so I could hear he was a bit stressed and was like ‘I have this sync and would you be willing to come into the studio?’ I said ‘I came come now if you have a deadline’, so I go to the studio and we do that little bit.’ (more…)

Nirvana: Nevermind gets 20th Anniversary Reissue
One way of telling you you’re getting old is realizing that Nirvana‘s Nevermind is twenty years old! Hard to believe. To celebrate this Nevermind will be reissued on September 23rd.There will be a couple of different formats for a standard CD to a 4cd/1DVD Super deluxe edition, which will feature unreleased tracks, obsure b sides, radio sessions, different mixes, all that jazz. The Super Deluxe edition also features a full studio live B sides and will also feature the first pre-Nevermind demos and demos recorded by Butch Vig. You’re also going to hear his version of the album rather than the version that was commercially released.
As if that wasn’t enough, there will be BBC recordings and a 90 page book with photos from the Nevermind era. The Super Deluxe Set will be limited to a numbered run of 10000. Start saving now! (more…)
