  • Tune Of The Week: 03/06/2011

There are very few bands who I have gone to see twice in a couple of weeks, 2011 has provided me with one such band. Having first seen Cloud Control open for The Naked and Famous in The Button Factory, a couple of weeks later I was lucky enough to catch an absolutely awesome gig at The Academy 2, dark and cavernous it completely suited their music.

The band’s Austrialian Music Prize winning album ‘Bliss Release’ eventually got its UK & Ireland release two weeks ago and it hasn’t really been off my player since.  There really isn’t a ‘single’ release anymore, its really more of a case of pushing a few particular tracks for radio play. Next in line for the push is this week’s Tune of The Week. (Best Radio Voice) From Cloud Control, it’s ‘This Is What I Said’.

  • Morning Hush: Bare Hands Review

MorningHush-BareHands‘Bare Hands’ is the second single to be taken from the forthcoming album by Morning Hush. It’s the follow up to the Dublin quartet’s smashing debut ‘Romance’ to be taken from their debut album due to be released later this year.

It’s an indie track with some nice guitar sounds but doesn’t instantly have the same impact that ‘Romance’ had. It’s more of a grower. Where ‘Romance’ had a stomping chorus, ‘Bare Hands’ has a more melodic choral refrain.

Production on the track is slick and features some nice subtle harmonies. I really like the dirty synth sound at the start of the track, would love to hear more of that please. Overall its a decent track and shows us that the album should be of good quality. (more…)

  • San Francisco Giants Join It Gets Better

For the past few months there have been new anti homophobic bullying videos posted by both Irish and International organizations. Each one with the same message, we’re all the same, gay, straight bi, whatever.

I’m delighted to see that the San Francisco Giants have joined the ‘It Gets Better‘ project in the U.S. Professional sports is still an area where they’re aren’t many openly gay people.

    Have a look!
