My favourite bad boys are back! Mike Got Spiked return to Ireland in January 2011 for a series of gigs before the spring release of their new album ‘No Is Not An Answer’.
The Monaghan lads headed Stateside in 2006 and have been constantly touring since then. The new album was recorded at Perfect Sound Studios in Los Angeles in late 2010 with ex-pat and Grammy Award nominee, Jason Donaghy (Band of Horses, Rob Zombie, The Murderdolls, Ryan Adams, Sum 41) at the production controls.
2010 has been a busy year for Mike Got Spiked, finishing the album but also as bassist Jonathan Myles left the band for personal reasons. Fair play to Gavin, Conal and Dave, they are continuing as a three piece and working harder than ever.
Looking forward to hearing the new material!

It’s at this time of year where we all look at the ‘best of’s or ‘top ten’s’ of the year. Gig of the year (so far) was definitely Train. I thought they were amazing (you can read my review here) but I was also intrigued when I heard they were do to the song for the new Coca Cola Christmas Commercial. The original version features on the album ‘Save Me San Francisco – The Golden Gate Edition’
I really really like the way this song has been worked for the advert, and what I like about the original version is that its not too Christmasy. I also think the way that the advert has been incorporated into the music video is a bit of genius.
This Week’s Tune of the Week is Train: Shake Up Christmas.

So this weekend, Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th December, is the final weekend of broadcasting on HeartbeatFM. Heartbeat is broadcasting on a 30 day temporary licence from the BAI. On Sunday, Heartbeat will be counting down the top 100 love songs of all time, that should have some gems!
Nine weekends have flown by and I’ve really enjoyed it. Thanks to Joe and Tony for giving me the opportunity to clog the airwaves every weekend. Thanks to the people who have listened to the show, those who have texted and sent me lovely messages on Facebook and Twitter. I was well chuffed last Friday to find out I had listeners in Calgary, Canada.
So, my final two shows will be on Friday and Saturday nights between 2000-2200 GMT on 88.1 in the greater Dublin area and heartbeatfm.net around the world. Still time to get requests in for ‘Love at the Movies’ and ‘Top Nine at Nine’ so you can send an email to nessyontheradio@gmail.com or when I’m on air to studio@heartbeatfm.net
Tune in and get loved up!
