    Volcanic-ash-rises-from-E-001

Nope, its not English. That is in fact the full proper name for the nice volcano that erupted in Iceland.

Since the eruption, airports in Ireland and the UK and Europe have been closed due to ash clouds.  Dublin airport which is less than 5 km from here, so with the airport closed, it seems eerily quiet. Dublin Airport reopened today but the majority of mainland Europe is closed so the only flights leaving or arriving are from the USA.

I found this other  photograph on Flickr and thought it too good not to share.. Beautiful photograph, definitely once in a lifetime. Direct Link Here: (Flickr wouldn’t let me embed it)

Also thanks to Brian McColl for this webcam link to the volcano. Don’t forget it gets black at night.

I won the Hybrid award for Radio Presenter of the Year..delighted with the fantastic response from the judges. I also got Runner Up Spots for Arts & Features Radio Programme (Culture Cafe) and for Entertainment Video of the Year for Campus Beat.

I’m really chuffed with the feedback.

  • Killian McGrath: Shine On Review

    killian mcgrath
Shine On is the debut single from Irish singer/songwriter Killian McGrath which will be released in May 2010.

It’s a piano/guitar/vocal lead track. First thing I notice is how Killian’s raspy edged voice seems older than he is. ‘Shine On’ has a nice build up and production on the track allows everything to breathe withing its own space.

About halfway through the track, some beautifully arranged strings and vocal harmonies take the song to another level, before a full band sound kicks in. Maybe this could have happened a little earlier.

Lyrically, ‘Shine On’ seems to be a tale of moving on from one situation to another. Again, McGrath’s words make him seem older than his years.

It’s a very good debut and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for McGrath.

    5 out of 6

This review is so fresh Killian’s website isn’t even up yet!
