  • The Plea: Nothing But Trouble Review

    the plea

When a PR company send me something to play on the radio, if I can I try to review it also.

Nothing But Trouble by Donegal band, The Plea, is the lead single taken from a new EP of the same name. The Plea are the first rock act to be signed to an imprint of Belgian dance label R&S Records, once home to Aphex Twin.

Produced by Cenzo Townsend, Nothing but Trouble is a three and a half minute radio friendly rock song. Vocals, provided by Denny Doherty are quite early Bono in style, the vocoder – esque effect about half way through the song does noting to dismiss this (reminders of Elevation here). The production and musicianship cannot be faulted on this. I’d just love to hear more of an impact in the refrain of Nothing But Trouble.

It’s not going to harm them either that they are featured in the new 2FM promo (see Below)

  • Nessy’s New Job: DCUfm Deputy Station Manager

The Media Production Society had its AGM tonght and I am now writing this as DCUfm’s Deputy Station Manager. Delighted!

I’m hoping to get everything up and running again after the Summer by the first week in September, with current presenters getting back into their roles, hopefully, with ease. By the time then that the new first years introduced to the station and up without any awkwardness and making them feel at ease.

September will also see the return of the successful presenting/production workshops that we did last year, introducing everyone, especially those who have little radio experience to the big bad radio world. I’m also hoping to have airchecks with everyone, including scrutinising myself at least once a month, so everyone is ready for FM licensing opportunities and the rules and regulations with go with that in comparison to online radio.

    ooh.. Bring It on!
