  • Happy 1st Birthday Blog!

So I started this blog one year ago today, I wasn’t even quite sure what or if I would continue it. It started as research for a college assignment.

Here it is one year and 192 entries later, it’s turned into something I quite enjoy doing and updating… what’s more I can’t believe nearly 17000 of you have landed on my page.

    Thanks for reading.

In 2010, I’m going to try and make at least one post every two days. 🙂

    …nessy out!

Burn After Reading / Watchmen Reviews

I spent some time last night catching up on a couple of movies I hadn’t seen.

    First up: Burn After Reading

Directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, this has to be the funniest movie I’ve seen in a hell of a long time.

A disc of ‘secret’ information is found, leading the characters of Pitt and McDormand to try and cash it in for a reward that doesn’t exist. Add the FBI, the Russians and maybe a few Spooks and you’re in for a great hour and a halfs entertainment.

Great cast and fantastic acting from George Clooney and Brad Pitt, who is often overlooked as a great actor in my opinion.

    Enjoyable story really well told.

    Movie Two: Watchmen

Based on the DC Comics and directed by Zach Snyder Watchmen always had a lot of live up to.

The movie is set in a futuristic 1980’s and Nuclear War is imminent. It follows the story of a group of retired, antiheroes I guess, they’re definitely not superheroes anyway.

Visually the movie looks great, I really like the colouring and the Green Screening/CGI is good but weighing in at 155 minutes the movies meanders so much that this viewer lost interest somewhere in the middle.

The best thing about this movie is the soundtrack, featuring the likes of Bob Dylan, Nena, Tears for Fears and Leonard Cohen. With names like that you can’t go wrong.

  • The Day I Met Bertie!

On my first day back in college in September this year, I had a message during my first lecture. A Client who owed me a few bob said they would be at my college in ten minutes and asked if I could meet them outside.

So, on my crutches I hobbled down the stairs and met my client, there were a few cars around and thought it was a bit busy.

I turn to head back into college when I see a couple of the guys from DCUFM, I head over in their direction.

The guys had been interviewing former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern for Studio One, Steve Conlon’s show on DCUFM.

Next thing I know, Bertie is standing there asking me what happened my poor old leg! He had broken his leg a while back and was sympathising with my dilemma.

After a quick chat I headed back into the lecture…
