  • JEdward… A Nations Favourite?

    Jedward

John and Edward Grimes from Lucan, Co.Dublin have easily, it can be said, divided a nation.

Since Louis Walsh put the twins into the final 12 contestants on the X Factor, their talent has been questioned. Nevermind that the twins are probably the most annoying duo ever to hit our screens, or the fact that they have pretty much wrecked a couple of songs with their ‘vocal talents’, they are however, bloody good entertainers.

What a lot of people have forgotten is what is going on in this part of the world at the moment! No one has any money, less people are going out at the weekend so they are watching the TV. Cheap nights in also call for a bit of entertainment, JEdward provide that.

No matter how questionable their vocals or how many comments Simon Cowell tries to knock them with, John and Edward are providing a comic relief in a time when other X Factor contestants are taking themselves a little too seriously.

On the surface the X Factor maybe a TV talent show, but what the producers really want is ratings. John and Edward may not win the competition but a lot of people are tuning in just to see what they get up to.

As for John and Edward themselves, I reckon a career in TV beckons, they are fun, game for a laugh and dont take themselves too seriously. After all they have had good role models with Ant and Dec (“, )

Fair Play to them! And whats even funnier the biggest shock and rumour the ‘media’ can find about the pair is that they steal breakfast cereal and eat it with water instead of milk..

At the end of the day, X Factor is only a gameshow!

  • Infospecs

    InfoSpecs advert

I was messing around trying to come up with some ideas for an Imaging project for college.

I came up with this basic idea for layout – so now I have to try and incorporate a total of 5 photographs/images into an advertising campaign.

The product? Anything you like – so I decided on Infospecs.. Spectacles that you can get the internet on… why not?

    Episode 8:

I’ve been really bad this week with getting this up – apologies.. it’s all busy busy!

The show didn’t go too bad, there was a lot of noise in the Student Union building on Tuesday and being honest it threw me off a little. (Yes there was only one show last week – on Wednesday and Thursday I was responsible for training in all the newbies – hi guys!)

So here’s what we got up to:

Xerosun ( a hardrock metal band joined me in the studio and we chatted throughout the hour)

    1. Crossroads: DJ Flip & Freezemaster Slick

    2. Neon Stars: Never Seen It Coming (First Radio Play)

    3. Chris Singleton: Worry Number One (recommended free legal download of the week available from http://www.singletonmusic.com/)

    4. Xerosun: All or Nothing

    5. Telephone Chat with Fiach http://www.fiach.net/home.htm

    6. Fiach: You Dear

    7. Wallis Bird: To My Bones

    8. Telephone Chat with Simon from Mugger Dave

    9. Mugger Dave: Crawl Up

    Ivan
Ivan Xerosun : Rock Pose of The Year

    10. Xerosun: Broken

    11. Xerosun: Driving Me (First Public Play)

    12. Outro…

I also have a tshirt here which was kindly donated by Xerosun, unfortunately there was a problem with our text line so the competition is running over to the next show..

All you have to do is go to Xerosun.net and find out who did the artwork for Xerosun’s new album. Get the answer and SMS DCUFM.com on 085 7515 973 and the winner will get the shirt!

Til Tues when I’ll be joined by DCUer Russell James who starts his first show next week..

    nessy out!

  • This Is it – Movie Review

    michael-jackson-this-is-it-movie-poster

This was what fans had longed to see. Unfortunately it took his death to show the world what Michael Jackson was really like.

Directed by Kenny Ortega, ‘This Is It’, goes behind the scenes at MJ’s rehearsals for the never to be 50 concerts in the O2 in London.

From the outset we see Michael, the performer, the perfectionist and sometimes the teenage-like Michael. The editing in the movie is superb, noticeably so in ‘Wanna be Starting Something’.

Jackson’s love for his music and his knowledge of music is clearly seen. His perfectionist views on his own music, it’s obvious which of his songs he prefers performing which in an almost childlike fake cough way, when during a Jackson 5 song, he is told that they (show director) cant hear his voice he insists that he must ‘save his voice’.

The admiration his dancers and musicians had for him can be clearly seen, the dance moves and newly filmed video segments (Thriller looks amazing – I would love to see the 3D version) only give us a glimpse of what could have been.

For all the Godlike comments that MJ has been given, the one thing that struck me throughout this film was his fraility. His slight build and almost insular movements show that away from the big press conference announcing the 50 concerts, here was a man so fragile.

The soundtrack only serves to remind us of what a talent he was.
