  • My Arthur’s Day Diary 2011

    Miles Kane and Nessy
Miles and Me having a laugh
I really wasn’t expecting to be so busy this week. I heard at the beginning of the week that there might be a possibility of doing some interviews for Goldenplec with artists who were over for Arthur’s Day.

As I was free I said I’d be up for anything..turns out I had a ball!

First up on Wednesday I interviewed The Brilliant Things who recently signed to Universal and this was nothing to do with Arthur’s Day. The band’s debut album is being released on October 7th. I might add I don’t think I’ve ever interviewed a band who laughed quite as much! Hilarious!

From there I headed towards Arthur’s Day HQ, stopping off at the little coffee shop for a little bit of extra research before my scheduled interviews with Bitches With Wolves and BellX1. It was also good to have a chat/bitch with Aidan who runs Goldenplec, we don’t get too many chances.

James from Bitches With Wolves is so adorable, the world needs is a decent popstar and fashion icon who isn’t Lady Gaga.. I vote James in! Lovely guy with great hair and he gives great hugz. (more…)

  • Sea Sessions Line Up Announced

seasessionsI was delighted to be able to attend the launch of the Sea Sessions last night which will take place between June 24-26 in Bundoran, Co. Donegal. If last night’s vibe is anything to go by then it’s going to be a fantastic weekend. It was lovely to catch up with some people I haven’t seen in ages and to meet a few new people too.

The Sea Sessions won Best Small Festival at the Irish Festival Awards 2010 and its great to see so many other things apart from music happening over the weekend, skating, bmxing, beach rugby and of course surfing. I was also delighted to hear that the Sea Sessions surfing event, Quiksilver Expressions 2011 has been upgraded to a ASP speciality surfing event, the first in Ireland or the UK. Fair play!

So what music will we hear at the event? Acts so far confirmed include Ziggy Marley, BellX1, Go! Team, Grandmaster Flash, The Delays, Charles Bradley plus lots more to be announced..

Plus the three days including camping will cost you less than €100.. good job guys!

  • Tune of The Week: 18/03/2011

I’ve never been the hugest of BellX1 fans but I think they have a serious knack of writing damn fine quirky lyrics. Velcro is the first single from their new album ‘Bloodless Coup’.

There’s the new video directed by Shane Delahunty. I like the long single shots. I can see why the the style was slightly changed during the chorus, it enables the new scene to be set. This is probably the best I’ve seen any Irish band come to make a video to come close to OK GO.
