Download: Carosel – Back to the Start

Carosel_BannerLast week, Carosel announced that they were calling it a day. I’ve been a fan of the Irish Paris based duo for quite a while.

This seven track mini album is what the the pair had been working on for the past year and they’ve made it available as a ‘pay what you want download’. If you want to, you can get it for free, or if you choose you can give them some money, the decision is yours.

It’s not completely the end though as the pair are already working on solo projects Singer Michele Phelan wrote, ‘You can follow Pete flex his fingers again on beautiful classical pieces, and I, with an electric guitar under my arm, have begun writing songs on a new solo adventure.’

Best of luck to the two of you and thank you for the music, Star will always be a favourite of mine.

Listen for Freebird on Culture Cafe on RTE 2XM tomorrow at 2.

  • Ah Begorrah! Paddy’s Day How are you?

shamrockI was going to do mixtape type thing on the blog for all our friends around the world but I kept adding an enormous number of tracks to the list and was leaving lots out that should have been in. I’m not hugely into turning everything green as as we celebrate Paddy not Patty but here are some of my favourite Irish tracks EVER!

    1. The Four of Us: Drag My Bad Name Down

This track was taken from The Four of Us’ debut ‘Songs for the Tempted’ in 1989. Love this track and it always reminds me of secondary school.

  • Carosel reveal track from new album, en Francais!

caroselParisien based Irish duo, Carosel revealed a new track from their forthcoming album at an intimate gig in the world famous Shakespeare & Co. in Paris. It’s more than just a bookshop with the proprietors providing artist’s space within the building. The song ‘Je Reviens Vers Toi’ (Come Back To You for our non francophiles), is the first time the pair have performed in the language of their adopted land.
