  • Phew!

    Some reading material

Just finished my essay, I have to say its the hardest i’ve ever worked on an essay so fingers crossed I’ll do well. I’m a bit mad sometimes me! I think I work better under pressure. The last couple of times I’ve had to hand in essays for college I’ve been ill so It was always left to the very last moment.

This time we got a bit of an extension, everything to be handed in by tomorrow. Thanks to my insomnia this week and getting our video project done it ended up  that I was doing it Thursday and Friday but I just couldn’t get my head around it. It wasn’t like it was way tough for anything, I just wasn’t in the right headspace for it.

So for E Society I did this:

    Option 6:

“the Web 2.0 revolution is decimating the ranks of our cultural gatekeepers, as professional critics, journalists, editors, musicians, moviemakers, and other purveyors of expert information are being replaced. … For the real consequence of the Web 2.0 revolution is less culture, less reliable news, and a chaos of useless information.” (Keen, 2007: 16) What are the implications of the ‘Web 2.0 revolution’ for multimedia professionals?

  • Are ye lounging it?

Discharge LoungeI’m in the discharge lounge. I’ve been wanting this day since last Thursday week. Actually I didn’t even know this place existed.

This morning at 750 the nice doctor told me I could go home. After 12 days in they have told me that it looks like the old DVT was what causing the problem.

I had some tests for lupus on Friday but the results haven’t come back yet. Seemingly the GP can get those for me.

Its nice here, coffee and tea flowing, nice big comfy chairs, it could be the hospital’s way of making sure you give the place two thumbs up.

Met some good people in here, the nurses (well the majority) are sound! Alice and Rachel deserve a mention, Gas!! They’re good craic!

It’s hard to believe that I’ve spent nearly three weeks in this place this summer. The last thing I wanted or needed.

I’m on the crutches 15 weeks tomorrow. All a bit mental. At least I’ve four weeks before college starts back! I’ve to wear these nice support stockings too.. Ooh sexy, need a suspender belt to keep them up!

So long St. James’ hopefully I won’t have to be here again for a loooonng time 🙂

P.S. I think its David Guetta’s fault even more now… maybe I should make a video, ‘Crutch Dancing For Beginners’

  • 12 Weeks and Counting…

Give me 5 just five minutes to feel sorry for myself..

On the sticks twelve weeks today – the whole summer. What exactly have I done, sat on the couch watched the French Open, watched Wimbledon, watched the Tour de France. Did I mention I sat on the couch? With the leg up!

I had a lot of stuff I wanted to do this summer, make videos and stuff, ah well what can you do?

I thought that this week I might be able to throw one of the crutches away and just be down to using one but that’s not going to happen, partly David Guetta’s fault, partly me having to dance to David Guetta.

Took a walk to college this morning, it’s the nearest bank and being honest, felt like it was the longest walk I had ever taken. Bloody hard work!

My aim is to be off the sticks, hopefully, by the time college starts up again. Breaking my leg seems like it would have been easier.

It’s annoying that I don’t know what definitely cause the DVT. But thinking back to when I was in Paris at Easter I remember saying that I had a pain in my leg, This was in April, my leg didn’t get really sore until May 8th.

Deep Vein Thrombosis! I hate you!

  • In sickness and…

So it’s been a while since I updated.. I was ill – still am but getting there slowly.

To cut a long story short, my leg got really sore and I couldn’t walk on it – My GP told me to go to the hospital for a scan. I had a blood clot in my knee. The Doctors in A & E didn’t give me a prescription to tell me that I had to have daily injections to break it up, they told me I needed to take Panadol and Neurofen. Oh I got crutches!

Nearly two weeks later my leg is worse than it was so I go back to A&E and they admit me straight away. because i hadnt received the daily injections the blood clot grew and had moved in the deep veins so now I have Deep Vein Thrombosis! thanks Doc! I really appreciate you messing up my leg, nevermind my summer!

I was in hospital for nine days i think and three weeks after getting out its still sore and I cant really walk on it. Took a few steps but my leg looked weird after it.

So for the past six weeks Ive been on crutches and have a leg and foot swollen to the size of a beachball… its just so slow – Can’t fly and have to be on medication for at least six months – at least Pudser cat is keeping me company
