  • Tune of the Week 5/8/2011: Hard Fi

This week’s Tune of the Week is from Staines’ second biggest export (after Ali G). My love of Hard-Fi is something that has been going on since early 2005, after a bit of a break they are back with a new sound and album ‘Killer Sounds‘. I still like them! Here’s Fire In The House.

  • Hard-Fi Killer Sounds Album Sampler

Hard-Fi have released a sampler of their new album ‘Killer Sounds’ which is due out on August 22nd in the UK so it should be August 19th here in Ireland. The Staines band have also announced a UK autumn tour, no news of Irish dates yet but they can’t be very far away. Here’s the sampler, really nicely done on YouTube.

  • Hard-Fi: Good For Nothing

hardfiIt’s August 2005 and I’m on the way back from London with a band i was working with. In Luton airport I pick up a CD that was to become one of that year’s soundtracks for me. Hailing from Staines, like Ali G, Hard Fi’s Stars of CCTV featured some serious tunes, Hard To Beat, Living For the Weekend and Cash Machine. The follow up ‘Once Upon A Time In The West’ hit #1 on the first week of its release.

Fast forward to now and after a little break Hard-Fi are back. This is the first glimpse we’ve had of their new album ‘Killer Sounds’ which is pencilled for release later this year.  This is a definite change of style for the band, love the rhythm and the production, winner in my book.
