‘Come On’ is the first single from Preachers Son‘s second album ‘Ten Stories Tall’. If it’s half as good as their debut, ‘Life, Love and Limb’, it’ll be a stomper. ’10 Stories Tall’ will be released in Ireland on April 13th and in the UK on April 30th. Frontman Brian Hogan, who’s also in Kila, has surrounded himself with some extremely talented musicians, Cáit O’Riordan, Tabby Callaghan, Davy Blythe and Jonny Field. Barman in the video is also played by Mike Bartlett, an extremely talented musician too in his own right.

I really like Funeral Suits, I’ve seen them live a few times now and they just seem to get better and better. This week’s Tune of the Week is their new single ‘All My Friendly People’ and is released on March 19th. The video was directed by Shaun Ryan and a shout out must go to Director of Photography Kevin Minogue. Lovely direction, beautiful shots and grading. Yummy!

Good Cake, Bad Cake – The Story of Lir (Video)
Yesterday, a promo clip for ‘Good Cake, Bad Cake – The Story of Lir’ went on YouTube. This documentary is directed by Shimmy Marcus (Headrush, Aidan Walsh, Master of the Universe) and looks at Dublin band Lir and their ambitions in the early nineties. Even if you can’t remember Lir, you’ll know some of its members including Ro Byrne, Colm Quearney, cornerstones of the Irish music scene. Strange fact, I went to the Senior College in Ballyfermot way back when and recorded a voiceover demo in Lir’s manager Sean Hayes’ studio in Trim in County Meath. He did an interview with me for it too. Must dig it out! Anyway this film is going to be a must watch for any lover of the Irish music scene.
