The London Ear 269 / Brendan Murphy from The 4 of Us Interview

    Greetings from London.

Sixteen year old me is very excited this week. Actually adult me is very excited too.

Interview with Brendan Murphy from The 4 of Us

I’m delighted to have Brendan Murphy from The 4 of Us on The London Ear today. Songs for the Tempted is only of those albums I keep going back to again and again. Plus, it’s actually 30 years since its release. Added to that is that The 4 of Us are coming to The Fiddler in London for a gig on December 4. So great timing all round.

It was great to chat to Brendan, (Left in the photo) about the band’s thirty year career, the hard slog of being independent musicians and of course we chatted about Songs For The Tempted and the biggest Irish song of 1989, ‘Mary’.

You can find out more about The 4 of Us on their website, Facebook and Twitter.

Catch Brendan and Declan at The Fiddler on December 4th. Tickets available from the band’s website.

The London Ear 268 // Midnight Wayne + Josh from Larkins Interviews

    Hello from London!

I’ve got two great interviews for you today, hope you enjoy them.

    Interview with Midnight Wayne

Midnight Wayne - The London Ear

Midnight Wayne is the moniker Wayne Soper ex The Hot Sprockets is now making music under. I really enjoyed our chat and I love how Wayne described his recording process and the importance of his keyboard to him. He’s very humble and if you ask me, underestimates his own production and musical talents.

He’s got a new EP out entitled ‘Transend‘ which you can find on Spotify.

You can find Wayne on Breaking Tunes, Facebook and Twitter.

    Interview with Josh from Larkins

    Larkins - Nessymon

Manchester band, Larkins are quickly becoming a force to be reckons with. They’re just at the end of an almost 40 date tour, have a new single ‘Not Enough Love’ and took the brave step of releasing a live album, ‘Live at The Albert Hall, Manchester’, as their debut long player.

I caught up with front man, Josh Noble, ahead of the band’s Academy show in Dublin.

You can find out more about Larkins on their website, Facebook, Twitter and Insta. You can listen to the band on Spotify.

    News about RTE Digital Stations

As per last week, you may have heard on the news, or read on the pages of this blog, RTE has announced plans to cease their DAB broadcasting. I received an email saying that everything would continue as normal for the time being. Either way, The London Ear will continue, providing a platform for the Irish community in London. I’ll keep you posted but for the time being, it’s business as usual.
