Fox Avenue: Four For Four Review

I wrote this for musicreviewunsigned.com I’ll update with a direct link when I get it.

A copy of Fox Avenue’s Four for Four EP, just happened to drop into this reviewers lap, honestly just fell. Not sure if this is getting a full release or a media only or fan only release but here goes. 🙂

Fox Avenue have been together since September 2008 and already have played support to Elliot Minor and Metro Station. This is a solid debut produced by Niall Breslin. The band features Sean Maxx on drums and Patrick Rhatigan on vocals and piano and Spin 1038’s night time jock, Dara Quilty on vocals and guitar (which will do them no harm at all).

‘Four for Four’ starts off with ‘Chasing My Tail’ an uptempo pop/punk track with a catchy hook and at 2 minutes 25 seconds is a radio programmers dream!

‘Save your Dreaming’ seems a more mature track with well thought out structure. Although Fox Avenue may find themselves in the teen pop punk market their songs could sit happy in other genres with songs like ‘Tonight’.

This reviewers favourite has to be the last track ‘Tell me’, nice drums and nice guitar lines, nice breakdowns.

The guys have a great internet presence too and frequently do a YouTube video blog update for all their fans! Clever! If these guys play their cards right they could actually be huge.

    Dizzee Rascal
    Dizzee Rascal

Marley Park on August 2nd really is looking like the party of the Summer. Fatboy Slim, David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Dizzee Rascal with the latter 3 acts having some of the biggest Summer hits this year.

This week on Twitter @UnaRocks posed the question if Bonkers was the best song EVER? Not quite sure if its the best EVER but its definitely in the Top 5 of the 21st century!

This week’s Tune of the week is Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Bonkers’!

    Check out Dizzee’s website http://www.dizzeerascal.co.uk/

  • New web and video projects

Its nearly 3am, I’m not at home and can’t sleep so I might as well tell you what’s going on.

I had a preproduction meeting earlier today with Nucentz and Rawsoul for their track ‘Let it all out’. It’s a great track and I’ve been listening to it for months on my ipod so, fingers crossed, hopefully I will be able to do it justice. The guys are a Dublin based HipHop duo but this track is completely different. Its an acoustic based track and also features the guitar work and dulcet tone of Paul Donnelly, who I had the pleasure of meeting today for the first time.

I’m also working on a new website for the legend, Jimmy MacCarthy. Jimmy is well known in the music ondustry and is one very talented man. He wrote the Christy Moore song ‘Ride On’ amongst others. Jimmy’s site should be finished by midweek. I’ll post a link when its online.

Trying to keep myself busy, I’ve been working on some little flash banners and animations. I was asked to submit a proposal for another website during the week. Already had a meeting in connection with that so hopefully that will work out!

Think that’s the news for now, so from me, on location, in rainy Ballinteer,

    David Guetta
    David Guetta

I’m the first to admit I’ve been a bit behind on the music stakes this summer, partly because I’ve been ill BUT I am trying to make up for it now.

For some reason my favourite DJs seem to be French, Bob Sinclar and David Guetta. On probably one of the unexpected collaborations this year, Mr Guetta hooks up with a Destiny’s Child for this, what I can only describe as, SMASH!

I love it, Kelly Rowland’s vocals are amazing and quite frankly its about time she stepped out of Beyonce’s shadow. Fingers crossed David Guetta is playing Marley Park, Dublin on August 2 🙂 happy smiley me there hopefully!

So this week’s tune of the week is ‘When Love Takes Over’ – David Guetta featuring Kelly Rowland.
