  • Storyfold: Rocket Science Review

storyfold-rocket-scienceStoryfold don’t waste anytime hooking you into their debut album ‘Rocket Science’. ‘Ciara, Don’t Be Angry’ starts proceedings with a catchy driving bassline before Paddy McKenna’s vocals kick in. By the chorus, the band have introduced the listener to all the trademarks of their sound, solid drumming and bass, and clever guitar lines. What sets them apart though is their use of keys and Lindsey Hogan’s harmonies.

Track two on the album though, has Lindsey on lead vocals and the exchange of lead vocals on ‘The Sweetest Silence’ works really well, reminding this listener of the vocal exchange between Simon Carmody & Maria McKee on The Golden Horde’s ‘Friends in Time’.

The album was produced by Greg Havers (Manics, Lost Prophets) and the band’s songs are complimented by his lush production, building up tracks beautifully and including what can only be described as gorgeous string arrangements. The Dublin based quintet have been together for just over a year and seem to have been recording and demoing since their inception. They write memorable songs and cross genres which makes them extremely marketable. They are indie rock but these productions make their sound huge and fit for bigger stages. (more…)

  • Storyfold: Trick of Light video

Storyfold have just premiered the new video for their single ‘Trick of Light’. They are one of those bands that I’ve managed to be acquainted with since their first recordings so it’s lovely to see that their debut album, ‘Rocket Science’ will be out on May 20th.

The video was directed by Conall O’Meara, Director of Photography was Mark Boland. I love the grading on the whole thing, kudos to Stephen O’Connell.

  • Storyfold: Trick of Light

StoryfoldIt’s been over a year since we first heard Storyfold‘s ventures into the music world with Delphine Wakes and Behind Closed Doors. Since then, the band have built themselves up to be competent live performers. They’ve also been off recording their debut album ‘Rocket Science’ with Greg Haver (Manics, Lost Prophets).

The album will be released on May 20th but before that Storyfold have decided to release the single ‘Trick of Light’.  It’s a great chance to get reacquainted with the band before the album.

The track is officially being released on April 29th but you can get the track for absolutely zilch, nada and for nothing if you sign up to the band’s newsletter.
