Free Download // Sinéad White – Better (Blend Bold Remix)

There are some things you miss out on when you’re not living in your native land. One of the things I’ve been missing is going to gigs and checking out brand new Irish music.

I don’t know an awful lot about Sinéad White, she’s from Leixlip, and most of what I do know comes from her being chosen as one of Goldenplec’s Picks for 2015. What I do know is that the Bold Blend Remix of Better is an absolute stomper and you should go and download it right now!

The remix comes courtesy of Dublin based DJ/Producer, Blend Bold, who has a new album coming out in October and has just, at time of writing, 98 likes on Facebook, C’Mon People !! I’ve been listening to some tracks on his Soundcloud page and he definitely desrves more likes than that.

The remix is spot on, melodic, compliments the original song and catchy as hell. Go download it now!. You can hear me play it on the next episode of The London Ear.

Tune of the Week: Scarlette Fever – 6ft Woman (Jason Nevins Club Mix)

I’ve been listening to a lot of dance music lately. I think it stems from me buying my godson a 3 disc Ibiza compilation which manages to wake me up at 7am on the way to work. Since then, he has been sending me demos of people he has found asking me what I think of them, including a 15year old producer who is a year below him in secondary school.

Anyway, that leads me on to Scarlette Fever who had a #2 Billboard Dance Hit with ‘PS I Hate You’. Scarlette has been in the studio working with Paul Simm, who also worked on Nenah Cherry’s album from earlier this year (bit of a gem that one). So, now there’s an EP out on Starfisch Records called The Fever Rides Again, which features remixes of PS I Hate you by Georgie Porgie and Tod Miner. There’s also a remix of 6FT Woman from Haji and Sheldon but my favourite track from the EP is the Jason Nevins Club Mix of 6ft Woman.

Yes, this is a huge summery ‘dance your ass off’ track. It might be October but I’m not letting go of the Summer. That’s why the Jason Nevins Club Mix is my Tune of The Week.

What I do think is really interesting is how different the remixes are from Scarlette Fever’s original non remixed music. I’m looking forward to hearing more of that.

Download: Avec Sans – Shiver (Avec Sans Remix)

At the end of the first full working week of 2014, it’s nice to get a reward of sorts. Avec Sans have themselves remixed their current single ‘Shiver’ and are allowing it as a free download.

The band announced it on their Facebook page this evening:

Post by Avec Sans.

Just in case you can’t see the widget, it’s available from Soundcloud or it’s available from the bands Facebook page alongside some other free downloads including The Answer and Heartbreak Hi.

So when’s the album out? I hate waiting.

Civil Twilight: River (Video and Remix)

Civil Twilight are a band based in Nashville and are one quarter Nashville, three quarters from Cape Town South Africa. ‘River’ is their debut on this part of the planet but I’ve been listening to some more of their stuff on Soundcloud and I’m liking what I’m hearing.

‘River’ is taken from their second album ‘Holy Weather’, it follows the 2010 self titled debut release. They’ve previously played at Bonaroo and opened for Florence + The Machine and The Smashing Pumpkins.

While I’m here, I’m not entirely sure when the album ‘Holy Weather’ is going to get a release here but according to their website there’s a remix EP on the way which includes a Ra Ra Riot Remix of River and an amazing Audien remix of ‘Fire Escape’.

‘River’ is out now on Wind Up Records.
