    Dublin’s Bollywood Film: Video released

So remember that Bollywood film, Ek Tha Tiger, that was shot in Dublin last year? Yeah, they’ve just released a song from the movie on YouTube and I’m dying now to see the full thing. It’s a cross between Riverdance and Bollywood so it’s probably a new genre of film Riverwood or Bollydance.. Just remember where you heard it first.

Trinity College, Kilkenny hurlers, fellas on bikes and leprechaun hats pretty much a normal day in Dublin apart from the fact that that everyone dances on the street.

The song is called Banjaara and the leads are Salman Khan & Katrina Kaif.

  • Riverdance: Live At The Gaiety Review

RiverdanceSince Riverdance appeared as the Eurovision interval act in 1994, it became synonymous with Ireland  and how the country was represented abroad. I had seen the show on video but never live and I was delighted when I was asked to go to the opening night of the summer season in The Gaiety.

When we think of Riverdance we think of a line of dancers across the front of the stage, tapping in time leading to a dramatic ending. However The Gaiety doesn’t have the size of a stage so I was wondering how it would pan out.

It’s taken me a while to write this purely because I wasn’t sure if I should but I have to be honest. The show just didn’t have me in awe like I thought it would. The size of the stage did obviously limit how many dancers were on stage but it didn’t take away from the high standard of dancing. While the audience were clapping and showing their appreciation, (a previous lead dancer sitting beside), there were little things in the production that didn’t sit comfortably with me. (more…)

  • Riverdance is back in Ireland

riverdanceThe phenomenon that grew from a Eurovision interlude is back for its eighth season in the Gaiety. Riverdance will run from Jun 28th until August 28th in the Dublin theatre before heading sound to INEC in Killarney for shows from August 30th to September 4th.

Riverdance, Composed by Bill Whelan, Produced by Moya Doherty and Directed by John McColgan is now in its 16th year and has been seen live by over 22 million people world-wide, which is amazing.

As I yet again fail my Irish citizenship test, I haven’t seen the show live but in my old job about 11 years ago, I had to duplicate the video tapes for the extravaganza. My favourite was the version of Riverdance from Radio City.
