The London Ear 266 // Eoin Glackin + Angela & Paul, Strange Fish Theatre

In a week of uncertainty about the future of RTE 2XM, I am absolutely thrilled to be able to bring you this week’s episode of The London Ear. Either way, whatever happens, The London Ear will continue to exist and to be a platform for the Irish community in London.

I’ve got three great guests for you on this week’s show.

    Interview with Eoin Glackin

Eoin Glackin - black and white promo shot

I was delighted to chat to Eoin on this week’s show, he’s a really easy guy to chat to. We managed to squeeze in chats about his love of Star Trek, his manager, who used to be in 80s combo, Modern Romance, songwriting for other artists, and of course, his London show at the Slaughtered Lamb on November 13th.

He’s playing as part of an Irish music night, Dublin Calling’, which will also feature Steo Wall and Nuala. Tickets are available from here.

You can find out more about Eoin Glackin on his website, Facebook and Twitter and Insta.

Interview with Angela Marray & Paul Lloyd from Strange Fish Theatre Company

The Matchbox - Strange Fish Theatre
Irish Theatre outside Ireland is alive and well and is being helped along by the London based Strange Fish Theatre Company who are putting on a production of Frank McGuinness’ The Matchbox in the Omnibus Theatre in Clapham. It’s the first time that a production of The Matchbox has been put on in London. Bualadh bos mo chairde!

It was great chatting to the Angela Marray, the star of the one woman show about the intensity of the performances and to Paul Lloyd who gave us an insight into the work of Frank McGuinness. Frankly, I didn’t know a whole lot about Frank’s work so it was an eye opener and I now, feel ashamed of my ignorance.

The Matchbox runs at the Omnibus Theatre in Clapham until November 17th. You can get tickets here or on the Strange Fish Theatre Company website.

The London Ear // 216 with Strange Fish Theatre Company

On this week’s episode of The London Ear, I was delighted to be able to catch up with Matt and James from the Strange Fish Theatre Company who currently have a production of ‘Quietly’ running as part of the Irish Theatre Season in the Omnibus Theatre in Clapham.

MattandJamesStrangeFruitQuietly was written by Owen McCafferty and runs until October 27th.

Matt Dunphy acts in the play, while James O’Donnell is the Director. This is the Strange Fish Theatre Company’s second production at the Omnibus Theatre following last year’s hugely successful The Turn of the Screw.

We chatted via Skype and I should have take more than once screenshot – Matt, I apologise that your eyes are closed.

However, James sent this one over to me. During the course of chat, the chaps explained how the play is an immersive experience for the audience. As the play takes place in a bar, the bar in the Omnibus Theatre is being used as the setting for ‘Quietly’. This mural was commissioned by the theatre group to add an extra dimension to the bar for the duration of the production.
