  • Bye Bye Television

Yip, we did it. we’ve dumped our TV. We’ve got rid of our cable and have finally decided we’re going to do something productive with our time rather than watching re-runs of Frasier and Friends.

How could you do that I hear you say? Well our little TV has been a friend for many years now. When we bought it first it was mainly because we were in the UK and we could also use it to surf the web. Dead handy when we didn’t have a computer and were emailing friends and family at home.

Being honest though, we probably watch more DVDs have quite a good monitor for doing that so we don’t really need a TV. Any TV we want to watch we normally end up watching online anyway.

I’ve yet to see a down side to this, we save on a TV licence fee, we save on cable bills. We have more time for actually doing stuff at home, like playing music, actual instruments, learning new stuff and believe it or not the thing people used to do before we all had tellys, talking.

TV producers on this side of the Atlantic were smart, show the Pilot episode of Glee just after the X Factor final, big audience prime time weekend. This would have been ok if they had to show episode two the following week. Instead on a few occasions over Christmas we had to sit through reruns of the pilot episode again and again. January comes and they again shoe the pilot, move on already.. I know all the dance moves.

So what is Glee? The show that has taken America by storm? Yeah we hear that about a lot of shows and its not always true. So far I’ve watched up until Episode 13, Sectionals.. ooh what happens?

I wrote this for thecollegeview.com not sure when it will be published.

Yvette Fielding has become one of the most familiar faces on television since 2002. Along with her husband, Karl Beattie, they produce and present the show ‘Most Haunted’ where the ‘team’ search for ghosts and ghouls. Their paranormal investigation team isn’t exactly Ghostbusters. Have we seen any ghosts? No

The first season was extremely theatrical, like a bad Meat Loaf video, dry ice swirling round the exterior of buildings. It was hard to take it seriously, never mind Derek Acorah. The ex-Liverpool footballer and resident medium looked like a rock star about to take the stage with all his glitz and glamour.

Often ‘possessed’ by spirit entities, Derek was always the awful evil brute to murdered to tribes of locals. He suddenly disappeared from the show but was recently seen trying to speak to spirit of Michael Jackson.
