I saw Joe Janiak open for Benjamin Francis Leftwich in Whelan’s and loved him. He has a really interesting vocal style and I love how he moves when he’s playing. He looks like he’s really enjoying it!
So I thought that it would be good to tell you about his free acoustic EP. It features ‘Beating Heart’, which I saw him perform last week and also an absolutely delightful cover of The Supreme’s You Can’t Hurry Love.
All the EP will cost you is an email address: I think it’s yummy! Enjoy!
Angel Haze is a rapper and lyricist from Virginia USA. She’s signed to Island records and has just released her second mixtape of the year. Classick is a six track release, the follow up to Reservation. On Classick, she shows herself to be on par with any male counterparts and pull no punches on a reworking of Eminem’s ‘Cleaning Out My Closet’, which deals with sexual abuse. She also gives Lauryn Hill’s Doo Wop (That Thing) the once over and this has already received BBC radio 1 play. Definitely an artist to watch.
You can download Classick here. You could do a lot worse than downloading Reservation too. If you fancy having a listen first you can head over to Soundcloud.
Just remember if you’re at work, there are some choice words, so turn your speakers down.
I’m getting bad with Free Music Monday, it seems to be rolling into Tuesday.. oops.
I’ve featured Model Society on the blog before way back in April 2011.
They’re back with a new single ‘Sunday Morning Calling’ which you can get for a free download by signing up for a download code on their website. Just fill out your email address and sit back and get your download code.
Here’s the video which shows off the lads’ London home in all its glory.
I’m a tad naughty, this is the second week in a row that Free Music Monday has drifted into Tuesday but this is a humdinger of a track and totally deserves recognition. The track is by Kimbra and its awesome to see that she’s managing to quite successfully come out from the shadow of Gotye’s ‘Somebody that I used to Know’.
London trio Strangers have give Posse, taken from Kimbra’s album Vows, the once over and they’ve definitely given it an extra umph! Expect to hear this on my radio show soon! If You like what you hear check out some more of Strangers’ music on Soundcloud, there are a few more tracks there for download, including a reworking of Haddaway’s What is Love
